Flowers in art – Painting workshop starts October

Flowers have been forever a big theme in art and in this 7 weeks course we will dive into the creation of flower paintings from different angles. We will be looking at the subject in art history and try to establish a very personal, contemporary view. You will be encouraged to look at flowers and plants around you and learn how to creatively capture them.

The class is a freeing, process driven painting workshop for all level of students that want to learn how to express themselves with colours and learn how to develop a theme. The explorative way in which we will use the materials is great for beginners and experienced artists a like. The participants will be encouraged to trust themselves and their painting process and will learn to creatively react to challenges that might appear on their paths. Due to the small number of participants each student will be encouraged at a personal level.

Even though I also plan to be working from real flower set ups, in preparation for the class I recommend to chose at least 5 photos of different flowers, plants or pictures of blossom that inspire you to capture them, may it be close detail pictures, a still life set up in a vase, a potted plant or plants in their natural habitat. The workshops take place at my atelier in Belair on Monday nights from 19.00 – 21.00 or on Tuesday mornings from 10.00 – 12.00. The classes will start on the 21st/22nd October, then there is a break of a week during the autumn holidays and the dates go through to the 9th/10th December. As the participants number is limited to ten students per class, please do book early in order to avoid disappointment!

The course fee for the set of 7 classes is 350€ and includes all materials. In order to book the classes or in case you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me and please feel free to share the information with your friends. I am looking forward to a fun class!

Kind regards,

Sonja
